Not a Superdream but when I was 17 this bike really caught my eye when I visited the Birmingham Motorcycle show in 1982. For those who don't know the model this was the last incarnation of the single over head four cylinder CB650 custom it was a one year only production bike that year being 1982. It was old tech with new double overhead cam engines being the new engine at the time. Although I desired one it wasn't until 2007 when I finally got one. Main reason for this thread is that since 2007 I have owned four such bikes, they were available in black, silver or blue, and what was slightly unique was that the frame was painted in the same colour as the bodywork. So the third one I owned was a silver one, however at the time of purchase it had an aftermarket exhaust (4:1) and unfortunately the frame had been painted black. It ran really well but was well used and mileage was high. About three years ago I decided to tare it down and sort the frame out. Photos below show the story: Bike as I got it

So its had the seat recovered, frame hand painted, exhaust changed and the headlight brackets are aftermarket. Parts are very difficult to find as it was only made in 1982 and very few sold in the uk/europe, more so were sold in America as it was more to their taste in styling. The four into four standard exhaust system are like hens teeth.

They are a beautiful bike that I’ve always fancied,I have a CB650Z same motor.I bought this DOHC shaft drive Nighthawk few years back and my brother now owns it,not as pleasing on the eye as the SOHC.

I found it a very nice bike to ride but the footrests too far back for me to be comfortable.bit quicker than the sohc and it has shaft drive, like Carl I sourced the hard to source complete exhaust system in as new condition for it 😁

I got the frame powder coated in a colour very close to the bodywork. Really pleased with the finish so time to get it rebuilt. Due to the weight of the engine it’s a lot easier to fit the frame to the engine.

And so we get to the reason for this thread, shortly after Christmas I decided let’s sort out which bikes I’m going to sell, which is always a hard decision. So the first I decide on is a Super Dream that I’m not really attached to emotionally so it’s an easy choice.
Next I get on the ramp a nighthawk I haven’t used for many years
Although it looks ok from a distance on closer inspection the frame paintwork is looking tired and tatty. Do I advertise it as is or tidy the frame up? I haven’t got the appetite for another tear down so I wonder 🤔
