Sir Duffer, are those fuel tap filters available separately, looking at DS spares it appears not, however genuine fuel tap assemblies are available, I think both tanks deserve new genuine items, does thou have a spare tap or shall I have said items dispatched to thy worthy paint shop?

That is indeed what I removed, albeit in bits. Be happy to fit a genuine tap should one be found. What about the cap and lock ? Or shall you swap them over.

I was going to use the cap and lock off the red tank, save messing around with keys, similar with the fuel tap now that filters are available separately, do you require a tap or just a replacement filter?

Your tank will need a tap and filter. I have a good tap and would be interested in a new filter as the original is a bit past it. Any bits I need shall be sorted when we meet. I expect to have my tanks ready for painting by the weekend. So expect more progress pictures on it all soon. ππ»πΊπΊ

Also, I must sort out the tank warning decal, can't remember which one I chose, I must refresh my memory, have you received the decal for your tank from the good Sir John?

I don't think Sir John has the address of my humble abode. Only decals I have are the main one's.

Yeah I saw that John. It's interesting as from memory, the actual petcock is the same (or interchangeable at least) on both with from memory the 385 Honda part number. 385 I think is a Honda XL350K2-K4 according to John Oldfield's model listings...so this is where the petcock on the SD's and probably loads more Honda models originally hails from..

So the 388 screen seems to come with just the petcock washer and not the tube positioning rubber holder (ring / washer) as well ? Could explain why it's cheaper.

If you need washers I can punch them from some fuel resistant rubber I have - thats what I did with SME
I may have a second hand useable filter as I replaced the one on MKW will have a fish about

Bloody hell, those filters are expensive for what they are, it's not much more to buy a couple of genuine complete taps, I'll do that then, after my Weetabix π
