I have a question for Lord Beer. I understand that the decals on the plastics should be on top of the paintwork (On the tank, clear gloss over the top to cope with wear and tear). Clear over the top will provide a more robust job also if done on the plastics too. The problem or question is how original do you want it ?

Now that I'm back at home and having the opportunity to view the pictures on a bigger screen I am more amazed with thy quality Sir Duffer, my endeavours with painting usually involves primer and rubbing down (badly), colour coat (the finest of orange peel texture) and finally a rub down and clear coat (with the inevitable couple of runs), before finally giving up and excepting I'm crap at painting and should stick to what I'm good at, making noise and hitting things with hammers π

Indeed a question to ponder, however I agree with your suggestion of clear over the decals on the plastic panels for a more robust finish, originality aside if you think this is preferable for a better job then please proceed π

It wasn't meant to be....I don't want to tempt fate with that lovely finish. No all I was going to say and I think you'll already know this is that if the Lord desires as much originality as possible, the edges on the side panels will be finished in satin black (easy job). Also, I think it is actually a good idea to lacquer over the decals that are supplied these days on all the panels. The original Honda ones seemed to be laminated more and a bit more durable with accidental petrol spillage / rub wear etc. Thoughts guys?

I am with Nick on this one. It would be a hanging offence to allow fuel or anything else to damage the job for the sake of originality. Now. More beer....π»πΊπ»
