more of a car related post this (sorry in advance)
has anyone had trouble with these wet belt things?
I only make mention of it because two people I work with (very small firm) have both gone through hell with these things, one needed a brand new engine and the other one is looking like it might need the same.
I'm not even 100% sure what they do, I think its to do with cam drive and from what I gather they are a complete pig to change and require religious oil changes, also that oil needs to be the exact type approved by the manufacturer and not generic stuff out of a 50 gallon drum in a back street garage.
never thought I'd say this but I'm glad my old bus has a cam belt

I watch a lot of you tube channels from the UK - mostly bike related but I do also watch a few used car dealer ones too.
I've known about these so called wet belt engines having issues for a while and from what I know and have now seen on YT, I'd never touch a car with one of those engines. The Ford version has the nickname 'Eco Boom' (Ecoboost) in the trade.
This guy has run a few vids on them, here's one:

Sir Buster, I sympathise with your colleagues, I have experience with ecoboom engines, thankfully not owned by me, last year we took in a focus 1.0, with a failed engine, at 38k miles, our mechanic was not overjoyed at this as like many others, but it was for a friend so out with the engine and full strip down, the engine, the size of a cornflake box, was taken apart, the award winning engine, apparently, was beyond repair, the wet belt, similar to something you'd find in a hoover was shredded, and where did all the particles go, yip they clogged up all the oil galleries and starved the engine, the solution was to find another engine, not easy as many others are looking for the same, and sell it on, which is what happened, so in summary wet belt engines are shite, manufacturers don't give a shit because the public are quite happy to buy them anyway because it's shiney and has infotainment and other trendy bollocks, all for loads of pounds a month followed by a final payment of loads, don't do it.
This advice was brought to you by beer, the solution to all problems 😄👍

I do hope Karen, that your sister sent the car back to whence it came and set fire to it whilst torturing the vendor, Lord Beer offers such a service if required, brethrens of the great hall are more than happy to indulge in a bit of pillaging and destruction, sub standard engineering will not be toleranted and those who profit by it must suffer thy wrath 😡
